Optional Practical Training for F-1 Students
Optional Practical Training, also known as OPT, is an employment authorization available to students in F-1 status, which gives them an opportunity to engage in temporary employment for practical training in their major area/field of study. Optional Practical Training can be obtained while you are doing the academic program or after completion of the degree.
Recently, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has extended the Optional Practical Training period from 12 to 29 months. The training is available for F-1 students with a degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). Thus, the students graduating from a US University can now obtain this "OPT" for a much longer timeframe, which allows them to work in their field of study for 29 months.
Now, F-1 students can benefit from this opportunity with TheraKare assisting them to find optional practical training jobs as local physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists.
